Paros is a small paradise in the Aegean Sea, a Greek island whose population only just reaches 16,000 and where tourism is the main contributor to the local economy. The island forms part of the Cyclades, an island group which is also home to other popular destinations such as Naxos and Delos. The island of Paros, aside from its collection of historical relics, boasts a stunning 120km of coastline which plays host to some fantastic beaches. In the central part of the Cyclades, it is also in the perfect location to charter a boat or yacht and explore the other goregous greek islands in the area, such as Naxos, Antiparos or Delos. The constant strong wind in the strait between the island and Nexos also brings many windsurfers to the island.
The main town on the island is Parikia, a beautiful town with whitewashed houses looking out to sea and a lovely marina which welcomes hundreds of cruises every year.
The small town of Naoussa is also worth a mention, being a delightful fishing settlement where the cuisine is simply irresistable....worth experiencing is a delicious fish dish overlooking the beaches of Pisso Livadi.
In short, Paros is an idyllic location with thousands flocking to its shores every year to see what all the fuss is about. And with so much to see, visit, smell and taste, they dont leave dissapointed. |
